The Southwest region of ECMMA includes Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii,
Nevada, New Mexico, Utah,and Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia.
LOCAL CHAPTER EVENTS TO BE ANNOUNCED
ECMMA was founded in 1986 to be an advocate for music in early childhood,
to further the advancement and development of music education for young children,
and to serve the needs of educators in music and/or early childhood.
Our Southern California Chapter, SoCal ECMMA, strives to serve
educators on the local level
through networking, resources and workshops.
The strength of the national chapter is directly related
to the support of the local chapters.
The strength of the local chapter is directly related to the support of the members.
We are a relatively new chapter with lots of room for growth and support.
The officers welcome your comments and suggestions for meeting topics,
presenters, meeting locations, and more.
You can help determine the focus of our chapter by becoming involved.

HISTORY OF SoCAL ECMMA - THE FIRST LOCAL CHAPTER WEST OF ILLINOIS
SoCAL ECMMA officially Chartered July 25, 2002
May 25, 2002, in Poway, at Let's Make Music School,
we elected our new slate of officers and began planning for the
regional conference to be held in 2003 in Southern California.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE MUSICAL CHILD presented by Dr. Lorna Heyge
St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach,
Dr Heyge is a renowned author and educator.
She is founder and president of Musikgarten/Music Matters,
president of Foundation for Music-Based Learning,
and publisher of Early Childhood Connections.
She is co-author of the Musikgarten curricula and Chair for the
Music in Early Childhood Committee
for the National Conference for Keyboard Pedagogy.
Dr. Heyge holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music,
Northwestern University and the University of Cologne, Germany.
